My Grandfather. My Hero.
Nov 11, 2021 | Moore Care
“When you lose someone, it hurts, but losing your hero puts a hole in your heart. A hole that can never be filled. Not everyone can be a hero – but my grandfather definitely was.”
This profound sentiment is the closing monologue in Bamboo House, a locally produced short film that explores the unique bond between grandfather and granddaughter. The award-nominated story focuses on their experience of building a backyard play place together, the Bamboo House, and the immense void she feels when he falls ill and eventually passes on. It’s a heart-warming testament to the relationships we form with our elderly loved ones.

While Moore Care Caregiver Services plays only a minor role in the film, we catch a glimpse into the level of care and independence afforded to those receiving in home care. Our very own Ms. Imeh was the silent hero who took amazing care of Mr. Rinaudo, and her incredible gift of comforting the sick was a blessing to their entire family – allowing them the ability to extract more joy from their precious time together.
The screenplay inspired from the experience of Hadley Rinaudo was selected to compete in the Louisiana Film Prize in September of 2021 and placed in the final 5. The film was also featured in The Advocate, inRegister Magazine, WGNO New Orleans, Baton Rouge Parents Magazine and by St. Joseph’s Academy.
We invite you to enjoy the film with us.
The decision to seek in-home care in lieu of long-term care facilities or family-provided care is often a difficult and individualized one. In addition to the comfort of in-home care, there are many other benefits Moore Care can provide to your loved ones with our customized and compassionate care.
We owe a special “Thank You” to the incredible team at Eye Wander Studios for their creativity, direction, and cinematography in creating Bamboo House.
